A shocking action update from second generation member Twissie. At approximately 1am tonight I took a look out of my apartment window because I thought I smelled something burning. And, what do you know. A huge dumpster fire was taking place right down the road!

The music in the video is Veteranens klage by Kaizers Orchestra (for those wondering).

Weekend Time Lapse

I’m currently breezing through my near 3 month long summer vacation. I have no travel plans, but I’m keeping busy catching up with friends, doing touristy things in my own city and traveling short-ish distances by car with my family.

This weekend my boyfriend, his sister, their mom and me decided to meet up, put our heads together and do some real work on a priest’s farm that they acquired a while back. This farm is no longer used for neither priest-y nor farm-y things.. so it’s more of a summer cottage or what have you. It’s a really cosy little place, far away from everything, in the middle of nowhere near a town called Ljungby in Sweden.

Our task for the weekend? To get the house painted to preserve the wood a bit longer and make the place look a bit livelier. Here’s a time-lapse video of us painting one of the long walls of the house. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t the best for this kind of shoot, so you can’t actually see the wall change colour, but just.. lean back and enjoy watching us all hard at work 😉

Hipp Hipp Hurra!

Today (the 17th of May) is a very special day for me. I’m from Norway, and the 17th of May is our National Day! It’s a celebration of the signing of our constitution in 1814, which declared us an independent nation (Norway had been under control by Denmark and Sweden up until then).

Today the day is traditionally celebrated all over the country by children parades. This day is all about the kids. We get to wave flags, dress up in our national costumes (the bunad) and best of all, it’s tradition to eat as many hotdogs and ice creams as our tummies will let us (I don’t really know why, but it’s a good tradition that I hope will never die ^^V).

In short, the 17th of May is a good day to be Norwegian. This year the weather wasn’t quite with us, so my celebrations were cut a bit short, but I did get to wave hello to the royal family and I did eat the obligatory hotdog. Unfortunately no ice cream, this was in fact the coldest 17th of May in over 50 years!

I’ll round up this post with a video. I talk a bit about my bunad and you get to walk up Karl Johan, the main street in Oslo, towards the royal castle~ the Norwegian royal family also make a brief appearance!
