Nasal congestions, begone!

One of the problems of living in a city where almost all buildings are air-conditioned is having to deal with exposure to rapid and sometimes rather drastic temperature changes. You can be freezing your butt off in a 16-20 degree environment one minute before finding yourself just wasting away under 34 degrees worth of red-hot humidity in the next. The common result of all these? Colds, and with that comes the annoyance of having to deal with a blocked nose. Here’s a way to fix those nasal congestions…

Things that you will need :

  1. Vicks Vapour Rub or Mint oil (Can be one of those mint-based medicated ointments)
  2. Tub of steaming hot water (Need not be a big tub. Small one will do just fine.)
  3. Medium-sized towel (Large enough to cover your head)

Method :

  1. Add Vicks or a few drops of mint oil into the tub of hot water.
  2. Position yourself over the tub such that you are facing the water with the steam to your face.
  3. Keeping this position, cover your head with the towel such that both your head and the tub of water are tented within. This ensures that you get as much of the fumes as possible.
  4. Taking slow, deep breaths, breathe in as deeply as you can through your nose.
  5. You can add more Vicks or mint oil into the tub while the water is still hot to keep the minty fumes going till your nose is cleared.

And there you have it! A clear nose! I have to say though that applying Vicks or mint oil to your nose direct is the faster way. But I tend to prefer this method because I have found that applying these direct to my nose (especially mint oil) irritates my nose and causes me to sneeze, hence aggravating the block.

And this method can be used to not only clear stuffy noses but to refresh your senses as well. It makes a great addition to any DIY home beauty regime! I know of ladies who take advantage of the fact that the hot water steams their pores open so extraction of blackheads is easy then, especially round the nose. Follow this up with an application of a clay mask before toning and moisturing, and voila! Clean, clear skin!

To all those with blocked, stuffy noses~ Odaiji ni! ^o^

Weekend Time Lapse

I’m currently breezing through my near 3 month long summer vacation. I have no travel plans, but I’m keeping busy catching up with friends, doing touristy things in my own city and traveling short-ish distances by car with my family.

This weekend my boyfriend, his sister, their mom and me decided to meet up, put our heads together and do some real work on a priest’s farm that they acquired a while back. This farm is no longer used for neither priest-y nor farm-y things.. so it’s more of a summer cottage or what have you. It’s a really cosy little place, far away from everything, in the middle of nowhere near a town called Ljungby in Sweden.

Our task for the weekend? To get the house painted to preserve the wood a bit longer and make the place look a bit livelier. Here’s a time-lapse video of us painting one of the long walls of the house. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t the best for this kind of shoot, so you can’t actually see the wall change colour, but just.. lean back and enjoy watching us all hard at work 😉

(If video skips, pause and let it load completely before watching)

Monday Five

Monday Five is a weekly segment in the Ongaku!Project WordPress where we present five random O!P members with a question. Their answers to that question will be posted here each Monday. It’s a unique chance to get to know the O!P members a bit better!

PS from Suki : It’s ‘Monday Six’ just for this week coz well… Suki can’t count… =P

Q: What is the first thing you do when you wake up?

BleeBluu: Um, the first thing I would do when I wake up would be…lets see go back to sleep until my second alarm rings ^^” there is one thing I do when I finally get myself out of bed which is to stretch towards the celling because I heard it makes you grow taller (so far, I don’t think its working though T_T )

MoonsaultV1: The first thing that I do when I wake up is definitely push the snooze button on my mobile phone and sleep for another 15 mintues or so before getting up! From there, for me at least, it’s absolutely neccessary to have a shower in the morning! It’s the thing which gets me to be my normal, energetic self and I don’t think that I would be quite as energetic without it 🙂

Ra-chan: The First thing i do when i wake up is simple! I push the ON buttom on my PC ^^ and go ONLINE! I mean you know Checking emails and boards … i love it xD!

Reina: I go back to sleep! XD I am a “sleep” person, and obviously I LOVE sleeping (just like a cat) Unless I have something to do that day, I will try to sleep as much as I can 😛 so… if I HAVE to wake up immediately, I will brush my teeth and drink a cup of warm water, fresh start for a new day ^^

Shelly: I check my messages on the pc! Which is so ironic since one of the messages I got was suki asking me what I do when I wake up! Ehehehe. Coincidences, yeah? : D

Aisasami: Mmmm, the first thing I do when I wake up is either two things. If my little sister is sleeping next to me, I usually snuggle with her (we are BFF type of sisters) and fall back to sleep until I wake up or she wakes me (demanding to feed her). But if she woke up earlier then (for school), I usually wake up and go on my computer for a few minutes before I hit the shower and get ready for the day~!

Monday Five

Monday Five is a weekly segment in the Ongaku!Project WordPress where we present five random O!P members with a question. Their answers to that question will be posted here each Monday. It’s a unique chance to get to know the O!P members a bit better!

Q: What did you dream of becoming when you were young?

Maki Kanatsu: When I was younger I wanted to be a singer or an actress. As I got older I realized how far-fetched that idea was. I don’t feel that I have the “look” to be either. It would be a lot of fun, but at some point in time you have to look at what you can and cannot do. I’m really happy to have found O!P in that I can still sing and live out my dream that way, without really jeopardizing my future. My mom thinks I should be a weather girl too. I love weather and I have since I was little, but I’m not good at math and I think it involves some math…maybe during my career change. Haha~

Rayna Black: Hmm… let’s see. Well, as a kid, I used to have lots of dreams. Come on, as a kid, who wouldn’t have lots of dreams? xD Mine were ever-changing. For example, I wanted to be a doctor. But that changed when I found out how long we’d have to study for and all of the difficult stuff you’d have to learn in biology. It was so scary. LOL. Then at one point, I wanted to be a fashion designer. However, it got old. I got bored of designing stuff I wasn’t even going to wear because I suck at home economics (sewing!). ^^; BUT. There is a dream I’ve held with me all this time. A singer. :B I’ll tell you a funny story about me that my mum told me. When I was in kindergarten, we had to put on a show. We had to sing. When we got on stage, there was a part I had to sing. They gave the microphone to me… and I shoved it away, even after practising so hard for it! Hahaha. Oh well. Confidence grows as you get older and gain more experience. 😉

Nosomi: Heeee~ digging in my deepest memories, I remember wanting to becoming different types of person :
– a boy (it always looks easier and more fun to be a male ^^”)
– a princess (~with the dress and the castle in a enchanting land~ because if I wasn’t to be a boy, I wanted to have the most comfortable life XD)
– a teacher (before meeting my troublesome high school classmates)
– a feral child (dreaming of being able to live and communicate with animals)
– Aladdin (still looking for the oil lamp…)
– Gretel with her little brother (~candy house!!!!~ >.<)
– …..and so many others…..
Some of my childhood dreams are still vividly anchored in my inner heart, because a part of me doesn’t want to grow up !

Nono: Let’s see, when I was young I wanted to be a lawyer because I always found it fun arguing with people for whats right. =] And I just loved arguing lol ^-^

Tenkei: When I was younger I had some crazy ambitions… I always wanted to be a veterinarian, because that’s what my mom’s done for most of her life, but I realized I’m not really fond of -other-people’s animals… I’m kind of scared of them, also I have not one iota of scientific ability. I also wanted to be a bartender for some reason and even planned to go to bar tending school and still have quite a few books about bar tending. I’ve always wanted to be a professional wrestler… And a professional freestyle BMX rider! Also, I think everyone has, at one point in their life, wanted to be a professional musician. But I think the thing I wanted to be most (and is still my life’s ambition today) is to be a writer, that is, an author.
