Monday Five

October 27, 2008

Monday Five is a weekly segment in the Ongaku!Project WordPress where we present five random O!P members with a question. Their answers to that question will be posted here each Monday. It’s a unique chance to get to know the O!P members a bit better! Autumn is upon us! With Halloween just around the corner, we asked five of our 4th generation members to share their favourite Halloween memories with us.

Q: Share your favourite Halloween memory!

Anton: Hmm, I don’t have that many Halloween memories really. I had this halloween “Party” a few years ago although it was really lame. xD The only reason I was throwing the party was because there was this girl I had a crush on and wanted to meet outside of school. The problems was just raining though, cause I had invited a few other people which she despised, and she refused to come if they were also coming. So I had to lie to the others (not really my friends) that there was limited space (which was kinda true) in the basement and take back their invitation… Wow, I’m such a nice person, huh? xP Apparently I invited more people than I could handle cause it was veeery hard to get everyone’s attention. I had to yell out, which was embarrasing. xD I had made a bowl of punch, which was empty after 5 minutes. To dress up was opional… two of us dressed up (although I took of my Dracula costume pretty fast ;) ) Even though this party was far from perfect, we still had alot of fun and to me it will always be a great memory.
Scary memory huh? ;)

Rm88: Here in Mexico, there are people who celebrate Halloween just like the rest of the world, people who celebrate the “Día de los muertos” (day of the dead), and people who mix both celebrations. I personally don’t celebrate it anymore, but I have some nice memories of this particular day. When I was a kid, I used to go out with my friends, and we’d tell scary stories all night long. I remember getting lots of candies, even if I’d not eat them >_< And I also remember being the only kid without a costume, I’ve never been a fan of costumes… specially if they are creepy. Nowadays, I spend Halloween with my friends and family; staying up late, going out, playing videogames, etc.

Michi: I’ve always loved Halloween, so I have a couple of memories to share! Two years ago my friends had a Halloween party at their house, and we had a lot of fun playing with dry ice. The smoke filled up the living room floor, making it look really spooky. We experimented by filling up the tub with more dry ice, and the whole bathroom was smoky! I also liked my boyfriend’s costume choice of Indiana Jones. :D Also dear to me was the last time I went trick-or-treating, in 8th grade with my best friend Seri. We dressed up as Utena and Anthy from the anime Utena. We took a ton of photos, and got a few “aren’t you a bit old to be trick-or-treating?” comments. …C’mon, we were 13! Hehe. People also thought we were Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band because of the military look of Utena duelist outfits!

Ariah: Okay, so I haven’t had too many exciting Halloween experiences, but last year was extra fun. Is was my first year wearing a costume that I could say I made completely from scratch. Didn’t buy any pieces and alter anything, I just sewed it all entirely and made (makeshift) armor and stuff. This next part probably sounds a little lame for a 16 year old, but I also got to go to my first Halloween party last year, and I got to wear that costume. I wish I had some pictures from that night, but this is all I can share for the costume:

And I’m going to the same party again this year, in another costume, and I’m so excited since last year was a blast.
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. =D

Sazaki Ren: Hi everyone, Sazaki Ren here and now I’m going to talk a bit about Halloween.

I live in a country, where Halloween hasn’t been widely spread, actually – it wasn’t celebrated up to about year 2000 or something. What our Halloween basically looks like – the night clubs get crammed up with different people, dressed in different costumes and mostly it’s the same ol’night club party as any other – just with the difference in costumes, presents and competitions and sometimes music. So what I’m trying to say is that our children don’t really go dressed-up around the neighborhood and do ‘trick or treat’ stuff. No – the average age of its celebration in our country is about 16 to 25+ years old. And it would seem a bit strange if a group of half-drunk (and that’s actually an attribute of such an event in our country, though I personally don’t drink any alcohol) people go from house to house and from flat to flat and do the trick or treat thing.

Now since I’m not a fan of night clubs (actually – never been in to such a place) I don’t celebrate this holiday. But let’s just suppose I’m in a country that has deep rooted traditions of celebrating Halloween. And if I suppose that – let’s think over what would I do on this holiday. Hm… let’s see… Personally – I really like to sit at home, rather than go somewhere… But I don’t think that it would be interesting here in our supposition. I think that like anybody else – I’d gather up with my friends beforehand, where we’d think about what we want to do. And then at the Halloween night we’d make our plans true. It’s really hard to come up with an idea of what my costume will be – since I am not used to dress up into any costumes – but I think that it’ll be something samurai-ish. Like long samurai robe, katana and stuff like that. Now that’s what I think would my Halloween look like. Thanks for your attention.
